Yesterday, I was poking around Threads of Feeling's online slideshow. I was surprised by a number of things: the beauty and intricacy of the some of the prints, the amount of silks and silk ribbon present and the fanciness of the latter, heavily embroidered items, and how formal and lovely some of the mother's and father's handwriting was. I'm very much in love with Dita Von Teese's look here, as featured on today's post on one of my favorite blogs Marie Antoinette's Gossip Guide. The fitted bodice, low decolletage, full skirt and toile captures the essence of 18th century styling, but without looking like a costume.
